PGL Quiz and Games Night
The PGL Quiz and Games Night was held at the Pilsley Miners Welfare on Saturday 6th June, with the proceeds been donated equally between Brother Bill MacBeath KOM - PGP 2009 Appeal for the Macmillan Nurses and the PGL 2011 Fund.
The evening was divided into 3 Parts which comprised the first 25 questions in the Quiz, a round robin of darts and the final 25 quiz questions to finish.
Brother Simon Austin and his Buffess once again provided the trusty bran tubs for the Lucky Dips and Various Prizes were donated for the raffle.
Brother Steve Lowes' good Buffess, Liane was quiz master and she ably delivered the first 25 questions
The darts began and twelve brothers/guests entered the competition, soon the semi finals were upon us, the first semi final pitched Brother Colin Shuter against Sonya Carlisle, with Sonya coming out winner. The second semi final saw the PGP Brother Bill MacBeath against Brother Steve Lowes, Brother Bill threw some good high scores and taking an early lead but was stunned when Brother Steve checked out on 90 with a 20, 20, Bulls eye finish.
The final between Brother Steve Lowes and Sonya Carlisle, but was a perfectly one sided event with Sonya winning easily. The prize of a bottle of Whisky was donated by the Chairman of the Pilsley Miners Welfare.
Liane then asked the next 25 questions in the quiz and the Raffle was drawn.
With Quiz sheets marked two teams had scored 38 points so it was decided on a Tie Break question with team 70+72 taking the £50 prize. Brother Mac on behalf of his team then proceeded to donate the whole prize back to tonights appeal, "Thats what buffing is about"
An amazing £105 was raised on the night, and with further quiz sheets been sold direct through PGL and Brother Simons Bran Tubs still to be counted the final figure is still rising.

Gardeners Lodge News
The Gardeners Lodge are very pleased with the outcome of their total for Ashgate Hospice, their chosen charity for the year. Three members went along earlier this week and presented a cheque for £300 bringing the total to £700 A magnificent effort for a lodge so small in number and the problems they have had over the last 12 months with several brethren being in and out of hospital makes it all the more remarkable.
The lodge also donated £100 to Ability, the IPGP Bro Steven Elliott KOM chosen charity and also came 12th in the Elwell Shield.
